MEDIA RELEASE: Wendy Bourne MP, Cameron Dick MP, Shayne Neumann MP Visit Leading Ipswich Manufacturer White Industries During Manufacturing Month

24/10/25
As part of Manufacturing Month, Wendy Bourne MP, Member for Ipswich West, visited White Industries on 2 October, a proud Queensland manufacturer with more than 65 years of history and Australia’s largest privately-owned foundry.

The visit highlighted the important role local manufacturers play in supporting Queensland’s economy. White Industries, a family-run business based in Ipswich West and Dalby, continues to lead the way in advanced casting and engineering solutions for industries across Australia and overseas.

Ms Bourne was joined by Deputy Opposition Leader Cameron Dick and Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann for a tour of the company’s operations, hosted by Business Development Manager Michael Shelford and the White Industries team.

“It was fantastic to see firsthand the skill and innovation driving our local manufacturing sector,” Ms Bourne said. “Manufacturers like White Industries keep our economy strong and provide good jobs for our community. White Industries currently employs 60 staff, 11% of whom are women, as well as 15 apprentices, delivering fantastic hands-on experience to the next generation of workers”.

The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss how government and industry can continue to work together to strengthen local manufacturing capability and create more opportunities for Queenslanders.

“We’re proud to have such cutting-edge facilities right here in our community” Ms Bourne said. “Labor is committed to supporting our manufacturers and backing good jobs for our workers.”
