Celebrating 60 Years of Service: A Tribute to John Turner’s Dedication to the Community
The Member for Ipswich West, Wendy Bourne MP, was proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements and unwavering dedication of John Turner, who has marked a remarkable 60 years of service as a Justice of the Peace.
“John Turner’s long stint as a Justice of the Peace is a testament to his commitment to his service to the community. I was delighted I had the honour of presenting John with a Long Service Award at his home recently, recognising his exceptional contributions over the years” Ms Bourne said.
John’s service to the community extends far beyond his role as a JP. From 1991 to 1995, he served as a Councillor for Moreton Shire Council, furthering his dedication to local governance and the wellbeing of his community. His legacy is one of selfless service, marked by an enduring commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Together with his wife Chrissie, John’s influence on the Rosewood and broader community has been profound. Chrissie’s own dedication to helping others and her commitment to community work have earned both John and Chrissie their place on the Town and Country Volunteers Honour Board in Rosewood.
He is a Life Member of the Rosewood Apex Club, the Ambulance Committee, and the Cabanda Board. His work has also seen him serve on the board of the Anzac Park Sport and Recreation Club for many years, alongside Chrissie, with both having been involved in countless local initiatives, including the Queensland Cancer Council door knock appeals, the Rosewood Bowls Club, and St Brigid’s Parish and School.
