Meet Wendy

My story
My story is one of dedication, hard work, and a deep love for my community. My Mum and Dad immigrated to Australia in 1963 with four young girls. I saw growing up their determination to succeed in their new home of Brisbane, I share that same determination.
Growing up as the daughter of a hardworking cleaner and a nurse working nightshift in a hospital, I learned early on the value of resilience, commitment, and service to others.
For over 30 years, I have called Rosewood my home, I raised my son there and have immersed myself in the wonderful Ipswich community.
My passion for giving back started early on in Rosewood volunteering in the canteen at the local soccer club. I soon became President of the Rosewood & District Community Kindergarten, followed by years of hands-on involvement with the Ashwell State School P&C — where I not only served in leadership roles but also spent countless hours maintaining the school grounds as a volunteer.
As my son progressed to high school, I gladly took on new challenges, becoming President of the P&F Association at Ipswich Grammar School and later serving on the Board of Trustees for six years. That same commitment to community service continues today through my volunteer work with Rosies – Friends on the Street in Ipswich.
With over two decades of experience working in government, I have been a fierce advocate for Queenslanders, always striving to deliver real results for local families. I know firsthand how crucial it is that we have strong local schools, accessible healthcare, affordable public transport, and opportunities like free kindy and TAFE to help families thrive. I also understand the struggles of making ends meet when times are tough.
As more and more families and businesses choose to call Ipswich West home, I am determined to ensure the community gets the investment that it truly deserves — better schools, improved hospitals, better transport connections and stronger support for small businesses.
Above all, as a local single mum, a passionate community advocate, and a tireless fighter for Ipswich West, I will always put our community first.
